I recently changed jobs, and I report to a variety of managers. I’ve noticed the cars they drive, and they all have pretty distinct tells about their personality.
I’d like YOUR opinion of how each car tells something about its owner! Ready.... go!
Boss #1
- 7th gen (A35) Nissan Maxima, blue
!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
Boss #2 - 5th gen (XV40) Lexus ES350, gold
Boss #3 - 2nd gen (N50) Nissan Xterra, white
!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
Boss #4 - 2nd gen Chevrolet Sonic *cough - AVEO - cough* RS, yellow with racing stripes
Boss #5 - 2nd gen (GMT900) GMC Sierra Extended Cab, “Stealth Gray” (bone stock, no bro-toys)

1st boss had a 1st gen boxer. Dude was human garbage. I mostly never dealt with him, my direct report drove a Japanese stuff only: Miata, Mark III Supra, etc.
My 2nd boss - highlander, camry, etc.
Current boss - WKII Ecodiesel, wants a diesel boat (Lincoln, not watery type).

My boss has a SN95 Mustang GT and and Suzuki X-90. How’s that?

I’d want to work for:
- Pickup driver - down to earth, sensible
- Xterra - outdoorsy, maybe?
- Lexus driver - a lot of fairly successful people who just DGAF about cars drive these
- There’s scary potential with the other two (of course, these were probably your best bosses, because stereotypes are usually wrong, right?)

My current manager has a Nissan Sentra. She used to have a Wrangler but wanted something better on gas. That’s a bit of an overcorrection to me.
My last manager had an Xterra, but traded that in on a Buick LaCrosse.

The CEO of my company drives a red F type R coupe. He’s actually pretty nice to talk to. We talk about hockey every time I run into him

My boss drives an Equinox.
Your bosses are all over the map.

Boss #1: Brand new white Nissan Maxima (circa 2010)
Boss#2: Infinity Q50 that he bought after his divorce
Boss#3: 2010ish 5-Series that had minor body damage all over due to being lent to his teenage son
Boss#4: 2009 S4

The Xterra for a (hopefully, new) Buick LaCrosse is a good trade!

Boss #1: Would like to be hip, and may have been in a previous life, but family choices
Boss #2: Secretly 80 years old
Boss #3: Misses his old CJ-7
Boss #4: Can’t afford a Mini
Boss #5: Maybe he has a boat and heads to the lake a couple times a year

My manager drives a beat up Mitsubishi Endeavor, the owner (who come up once a month) drives a fully optioned top trim Tundra. My old boss drove a grey F150 XLT. That’s all I remember.

Boxster was human garbage? Sadly that doesn’t surprise me. Most guys I’ve met are either really nice or complete asshats when it comes to Boxster ownership.

Okay, going through the list.
The one with the Maxima. Probably a tool, or up to his eyes in debt since Nissan will finance anyone
The one with the ES350. A pretty straight laced, if boring individual
The Xterra is tough. I’ll go with a suburban soccer mom
The Aveo. Younger than the rest, hasn’t been doing the job this long. This was the first car they bought by themselves.
Sierra. Probably an older guy who has a wife and a dog. Doesn’t need a ton of room to transport a lot of people, but still likes having a truck for “truck things”.
Speaking of bosses and cars, I have two jobs. For my full time job my boss owns two cars. A BRZ and a 67 El Camino SS.
My part time job, she owns a Range Rover Evoque and a Mini Clubman.

This pretty much nails it except Boss #4, who also owns a convertible Camaro SS, which is her summertime ride. She also loves NASCAR and love Kevin Harvick until his bitch ass took a seat in a Ford. Yep.

The partner I used to work for at my old firm drove a fully loaded Altima similar to the one pictured above and it always baffled my mind. A similarly equipped G37 couldn’t have cost much more. And somehow, it fit perfectly that he’d buy a fully loaded Altima over a just a nice G37 for similar money, but I couldn’t ever quite articulate why.

My boss is pretty cool. Mustang with an LS - does things his own way and couldn’t care less what you think.

His usual daily is a 2013 Silverado, but he also has a 09 G8 GT.

I work on a dairy and beef farm, my boss drives a brand new automatic Hilux that’s always immaculate, it says he’s the boss and does no work. And the automatic transmission says he has no intention to.

It’s insane. You have no idea.

#1: Went to a decent state school and mostly skates through life.
#2: Has a freakishly long commute and undeserved confidence. They probably anally ask for your TPS reports.
#3: Has kids. Used to go off-roading regularly. Wishes they had a life that allowed that again.
#4: Highly incompetent. They buy GM products even though they’re garbage and they think even this POS is good.
#5: Wants to be seen as rugged and everyman, but that bed has rarely had much in it. Probably has deeply-held self esteem issues (every boss/manager I’ve known that DD’d a truck was trying hard to make up for something).

Boss 1: late 30's, family man small kids, this was his first new nice car.
Boss 2: middle aged middle manager
Boss 3: has dogs, probably runs tuff mudders
Boss 4: newly minted middle manager, younger IT guy, probably Asian
Boss 5: same as Boss 2 but gives some fu**s

My manager has a manual 7th gen Civic sedan, and the company owner has a brand new X3, just replaced his 2002 X5. But he also has a Range Rover at his LA house.

My boss/store owner:
1940's Plymouth of some kind???
2013 Ford F250, fully loaded
Bone stock and minty XJ
2010 Honda Accord EX
Honda Goldwing
Probably something else I’m forgetting

Did you do your TPS reports?
